Life is full of unexpected outcomes when you travel the freeway of life.

Freeway

You can plan and map out your road but obstacles will get in your way.

Close the Gate

But keep the faith and keep going, and someday you may be more successful than you ever dreamed.

Cancer and Calling 9-1-1

Posted by Boomer | Life | Friday 18 September 2009 7:19 am

In this era of information overload, we are beseiged from all sides by “experts” and their “studies” on what is good for us and what is harmful to us. There are times, though, when personal experience and word of mouth are the best sources of help. These two posts fit that description.

The first is from Elden the Fat Cyclist, a celebrity amongst the biking community for his candid and emotional posts about his wife’s lost battle with metastatic breast cancer. He took it personal, to the point where he and his “Team Fatty” teams raised for $626,000 for cancer research. This particular post (and the subsequent comments from his readers) will give you ideas on how to help a loved one who’s starting or continuing cancer treatments.

The second is from a paramedic who took to cycling to save his own life after years of obesity. Elden advised him to write a post on what will happen when you have to call 9-1-1.

Please spread the word and thanks.

Unable to speak? Speech therapy? Autism?

No problem for Gina. Get out of her way or she’ll run you over.

My grandmother was an atheist, the first I’d ever met, and whenever she mentioned that she didn’t believe in God, I remembered what the old priest said to the old atheist:

“For your sake, I hope you’re right.”

I never told her that.
