Solo Cache

On The Bike

Went for my first geocache ride today and preprogrammed four easy wayward points within a couple of miles of the house into the GPS 60.

Truth be told, it was not my first attempt to find an Eagle Valley cache. The Bride and I went for a walk Friday (7/18) night to try out the new toy and we got pretty close to finding a couple, but they were hidden in a field of baseball-rocks and neither of us had the gumption to bend and overturn. We did find a something totally useless, though:

Hummer Limo

(I’m new to the geocaching community and don’t know how precise I can be, so I’ll speak in general terms until I learn better. It’s supposed to be a treasure hunt, you know.)

I hopped on Dollar this morning and headed north to the first cache to the north. I spent about 15 minutes looking under well-manicured bushes and trees and the big sign out front of this business, but no luck, so it was back on the bike southward to other three caches.

This one was fairly easy to find because it was exactly at the coordinates. There was no room to leave a trinket but it was my first solo cache so I left the little dude in the suit.

First One

The next one was clued in as “Carson City’s Once Greatest Building” and I was stumped. The Mint? The Children’s Museum? As I got closer, I had a big “eureka” moment because the answer should have been obvious. And, again, the cache was exactly where it was supposed to be.

Lead Pipe Cinch

I had no luck finding the fourth but it’s cool. I got in six miles and did some bending/stretching all at the same time. Good work on a gorgeous day.

Looks like you had a good time and you’ll be a pro before too long. :)
