A lunchtime post to my relations:

As you probably know, Liz and I have several photo albums passed down to us from Grama Hume and we are proud to be their temporary caretakers. These books contain family pictures and many, many pix of their trips to far-off lands.

Grama told us on more than one occasion that we could trash the albums after she was gone but we did not.  We certainly were not going to toss images of Bon Rea from good times past and it seems a shame to lose recorded memories of Japan and London, among other places.

The reality is, sadly, the pix are moldering and disintegrating as we speak.  It’ll be years before they are gone but they will go away someday.  As a summer project, I’ll be glad to scan some photos and send you the CDs for your private libraries but hundreds of other pictures will be lost.

I’d like to hear from you on the subject. What are your thoughts and wishes on the subject?  You can post a comment or email me.  If I don’t hear from you, then I’ll assume you don’t want a CD and would prefer not to discuss the issue anymore.  Thanks much.

Sounds great Bob, I’d love to have whatever you think I’d enjoy (which would probably be most of it!) Thanks so much for doing this!

Count me in amongst the appreciative recipients. I’m sure there must be a company/person that would scan in the rest. Let me know if you find out any price quotes. I’d be happy to pitch in to cover the costs.

I’d be happy to do any scanning and cataloging in my free time this summer. I can start as early as next week if you’d like.
