PCOTW - 11/25/2007
Got pre-turkey laziness going on so I will shamelessly use some bullets from SI’s Pete McEntegart’s Thanksgiving Day column to list some of the things I’m thankful for in 2007…and some bullets from his fans (indicated by the parenthesis).
In 2007, the sports-like things I am thankful for:
“The Cubs made the playoffs and realize they can do it again in 2008 and, just maybe, a century of misery will end.” (me)
“That my sister doesn’t work for the Knicks.” (Pete)
“That A-Rod has found happiness and a fat contract as a Yankee, because I was really worried about him landing on his feet.” (Pete)
“I’m thankful for the Packers and Brett Favre giving me a surprise this year by being one of the top teams in the NFL.” (Gir)
“I’m thankful I wasn’t born a Longhorn.” (Sooner_Girl) [Note: I would have been UTEP or Texas A&M.]
“[That] I don’t have to pick of the tab for Travis Henry’s Family Turkey day meal.” (jobathehutt)
“Phillip Rivers was already gone when my turn in the fantasy draft came up.” (Jakester)
“I got to see the entire Magic/Bird/Jordan era.” (Jakester)
“I’m thankful for the mute button when Joe Buck, Daryl Johnston or Madden are talking.” (ymsbandman)
“I’m thankful that I’ll never have to sit by Stephen A. Smith on an airplane.” (Stack1009)
“And lastly, but far from least, I’m thankful for the Men and Women who are brave enough to protect our country and those of us who choose a different path in life, and I hope they all get a chance to come home and be where they truly belong - with friends and family.” (Gir)
To all, regardless of your faiths and beliefs:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord let his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord uncover his face to you and bring you peace. (Num 6:24-26)
