Meet Shay O’Reilly

Been meaning to post this for a while, but only recently rediscovered this picture.

Seamus is one of Liz’s maternal uncles. The one time I met him, this fine Irish gentleman struck me as a man who cared for and loved his family very much.

He is missed.

Here’s a set of Flickr pix from this morning. Liz planned to walk the foothills but ended up climbing the darn thing. Fifteen pix in all, including one I took last night on a bike ride.

Goodwill To All

Goodwill Industries has been looking for a home for months and finally found one.

Do you remember the skating rink on Highway 50 that was mysteriously transformed into an auto parts shop almost overnight? Well, it’s now magically changed into a thrift shop:

Goodwill Store

When you go looking for it in the near future, be aware the AC Delco sign is still out in front for the time being.

Hitchin’ Post’s Last Roundup

Posted by Boomer | Old Nevada, Pix | Thursday 26 July 2007 8:39 pm

It was thirteen months ago that the folks at the Hitchin’ Post decided to close their doors for the last time. They’d been supplying western gear and clothes to ranchers and cowfolks for over 35 years, but modern times and internet gadgets drove them kind folks into retirement.

The store’s been boarded up for a while and it looks like the building is about to come down. I’m glad I got a shot of the mural on the east side before it was gone forever.

Wonder whatever happened to the horse statue out front…
