Long-time readers and those linked to Liz and me by genetics know the two of us first met at the Wendy’s on North Carson, and we’ve been celebrating our anniversaries there ever since (even the Big 2-5).

This one’s for the skeptics:

Edwardses celebrate their anniversary at Wendy’s

WASHINGTON (CNN) — John and Elizabeth Edwards took a break from their hectic campaign schedules on Monday to celebrate their annual tradition — eating their anniversary dinner at Wendy’s.

The tradition started on their first anniversary, when the Edwards were in the middle of moving and too busy for a formal dinner. They decided to continue it and have eaten there every year since.

The couple celebrated their 30th anniversary at a Wendy’s in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

One of the CNN blog commenters said they hoped John and Elizabeth tried the new Baconater. :)

Excuse while I catch my breath.

Remember this entry from July 15th when I talked about breaking 100 miles for the month and 500 miles for the year? Just got back from the gym where I’ve surpassed 200 miles for July and 600 miles for the year.

I’m trying to see the “half-full glass,” but I’m still 117 miles behind where I should be on my self-imposed goal of 1250 miles for the year. If I repeat in August what I did in July, I’ll have finally caught up.

Excuse again while I catch my breath.

J.K. Rowling sat down for a ninety-minute web chat (outlined here (spoilers)) where she talked about the Harry Potter series and what happened to some of the main characters after the Deathly Hallows, the seventh book of the series that altogether sold more than 335 million copies.

Everybody’s A Victim

From this week’s News of the Weird digest:

Violent demonstrations in northwestern India in May left at least 18 dead, as members of the lower Gujjar caste demanded that the government put them into an even lower class, at the bottom of the social ladder (so that they would be eligible for more government benefits).  The Gujjars say that being one of the government’s “Other Backwards Classes” is unsatisfactory and that they deserve worse.
