The Little Muddy
Scott and I blogged about the rising waters in the Eagle Valley, so being a tad curious, I took a ride down to the Carson River for a look-see as my big weekend exercise event. The boring details of the ride itself are below the pictures.
When Liz and I got married, we spent our first seven years together about a stone’s throw away from the “Big Muddy” as it flowed to the Mississippi River. The Carson River today looks a lot like the Missouri did back in the Eighties, except on a smaller scale, natch.
This first picture is looking south from the bridge adjacent to the Mexican Dam Road. The water is above the base of dead cottonwoods on the left and up above the new fauna on the other side of the river.
This was taken from the new Dear Run Road bridge, again looking south, and the water is overflowing the banks on both sides of the river.
This picture is the river between the two above pictures and I wanted to show more of the overflow. Ignore that. Look at this freaking beautiful day, instead. Check out those clouds and the snow on Slide Mountain.
The details of the ride: south from Carson Middle School to Fifth, then down Curry to Clearview, then north on Edmonds to Fifth Street, again. East and south on the Carson River Road, then north on Deer Run Road. West on Highway 50 and College Parkway to Les Schwab to pick up the truck.
